…I’ve had this quirky fascination with things that are round.
Imagine this:
Back in 1st grade, my teacher hands me this small rubber band ball to help with my classroom nerves. Surprisingly, that tiny ball becomes the spark for a whole rubber band ball adventure.
Becoming an expert
I quickly become a pro at making rubber band balls, even sold a hefty 28 lbs one on E-bay that didn’t quite hit the mark to my liking.
Mom stepping in to help
My mom’s hard work in trying to get my rubber band ball passion some recognition pays off when Ripley’s Believe it or Not! invites us to see the world’s biggest rubber band ball in Orlando, FL in 2011 – weighing a whopping 9,432 lbs.
The story doesn’t end there

Gaining weight
Fast forward to November 2024, and my pride and joy, my biggest rubber band ball weighs over 1,200 lbs.
Continuing the growth
…and by December, it gained another 160 lbs.
Facing some obstacles
Some bands came from generous sponsors, but the challenge was (and still is) finding the right rubber bands. Turns out, getting custom ones from Asia is a bit of a budget buster.
Mom to the rescue
I didn’t have any luck finding any sponsors with large enough bands so my mom advanced me the cost of 2,500 lbs rubber bands and 100 boxes of bands have arrived from Asia just before the holidays!
Reaching a new record – Now, the 3rd in recorded history!
It took me 3 months to put all 100 each boxes of rubber bands on the ball. It now weighs 3,780 lbs – approximately 1,000 heavier than my car!
